Investing in homes and communities
Everyone wants a safe, healthy and affordable place to live. We want to make sure that you feel a sense of pride in your home and community.
Repairing and maintaining your home
We’ve invested £87.5m over the past year to maintain and improve your homes. This includes repairs, compliance, our major works programme - to replace kitchens and bathrooms for example - building safety works and sustainability.
We know how important it is to you to get a non-urgent repair to your home done as quickly and simply as possible. We are working hard to complete all non-emergency repairs within 28 days and, if for any reason this isn't possible then it's about ensuring you are told what's happening and when.
A significant amount of work has been done to reduce the number of open repairs outstanding.
Throughout the year we've brought in additional trade staff and contractors, and offered weekend appointments to help address the volume of repairs. Progress is being made and, in parallel to this, we're transforming our processes and technology to enable us to complete a repair on first visit as often as possible by ensuring we get the right trades to the right repair job with the right materials.

Reduce energy costs
We’re investing more than ever in our homes and estates so that they’re the best they can be - now and in the future.
We’re firmly focused on providing sustainable homes and achieving net zero. And not just for our newly built homes; we're improving our existing homes too. For example, by investing in things like improving energy efficiency, we’ll be able to minimise your energy costs and make sure your homes run as efficiently as possible.
Throughout 2023-25 we’re continuing to improve the energy efficiency of over 400 homes by installing external wall insulation, loft insulation and ventilation. By doing this, it will improve the warmth, support the need to address fuel costs and reduce carbon emissions by 280 tonnes a year.
Having a home that's safe, warm and reduces energy usage and costs is something we want our homes to be able to do for you. Being able to play our part in cutting carbon emissions remains a focus.
Over the past year we’ve retrofitted 137 homes. In 2024-25 we’ll improve a further 550 homes. Over 80% of our homes have an energy efficiency rating of EPC C or above and we’re aiming to be at 100% by 2030.
Over the year we significantly increased our preparations for achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050. This included improving our data, measuring our carbon footprint and developing a fully costed net zero investment plan.

Creating communities
Our Place Shaping team works with organisations to enhance local areas and create communities to be proud of. During the year, we built an upgraded play park for children in Portsmouth.
We know it’s important that our communities have a safe place for children to play and have fun, that’s also close to home.
Get involved...
We have a number of neighbourhood volunteers, who work closely with our neighbourhood officers. They act as an extra pair of eyes and ears in our communities, looking out for communal repairs, ground maintenance issues and fly tipping.
You can also join your local resident group, where you can meet quarterly to discuss communal issues and help improve your community. These groups provide a great opportunity for residents to work together, and to work with us. Improvements can range from organising social events to applying for extra funding for community development.
